Yes! GiftList is free for everyone.

GiftList is a wishlist and registry service where members link to products they want. To buy a gift, click "Buy" to visit a third-party retailer and complete your purchase. Then, return to GiftList to mark the item as purchased to prevent others from buying the same gift. GiftList doesn’t handle payments, shipping, or gift wrapping—these are managed by the retailer. After marking an item as purchased, you’ll get a confirmation email from notifications@giftlist.com with a link to unreserve the gift if needed. Your personal information won’t be shared with the list owner unless they reveal their gifts and will never be used for marketing.

No account is needed to view a shared list or reserve a gift (mark it as purchased) — gift givers can do everything important as guests. You can also browse Gift Ideas and our gift guides without signing up. You'll need a free account to create your own lists, participate in a group gift exchange, follow friends, and get occasion reminders.

Yes! GiftList is a universal gift registry. Unlike an Amazon wish list, GiftList allows you to add items from any site or retailer.

There are several options for adding gifts:

  • Paste a link from any site, and we'll fetch the details like magic.
  • Search for any product and add it directly from your list.
  • Get inspiration from popular and trending gifts in the Gift Ideas.
  • Browse and add from our curated gift guides.
  • Add an item manually — perfect for cash gifts or experiences.
  • Download our Add to GiftList desktop browser extension (Chrome, Safari, Edge) and add items while browsing the web.
  • Download the GiftList app for the easiest way to add items while browsing on mobile.

Each gift list has a unique URL that can be shared with friends and family. Anyone with that link can view your gift list and reserve an item. You also have the option of making your list public or private. With Public lists (our recommended type), family and friends can find your list by searching for your name, email, or username in the Find Friends section of the site. Private lists are not searchable and won't be shown in your profile but are still visible to those who have your list's link. Friends lists are only searchable by your friends on GiftList.

List owners can go to the "Gift tracker" tab on their list and select to "reveal gifts" at any time. Keep in mind that revealing gifts will show your purchased gifts and gift givers.

Two easy ways: open the gift on the list and choose "Release reservation" — enter the email you used and it's released. Or use the unreserve link in the confirmation email you received when you marked the gift as purchased (check spam for notifications@giftlist.com).

By default, only you can edit your lists. You have the option to invite editors who can collaborate with you to edit your list. To invite an editor, click "Invite Collaborators", enter an email, and hit Enter. These people will receive an email with the link to your list. Note that you must have a GiftList account to edit someone else's list.

When a member of our community creates a gift list, they have the option to either receive gifts by mail or set custom instructions for gift delivery. When you click an item on someone's list, you will see instructions on how to buy it and handle gift delivery.

We do our best to automatically pull in product details when you paste a link. Although we can do this accurately most of the time, a small percentage of sites make it difficult for us to fetch all item details. We recommend verifying your gift details after adding a gift. Also, be sure to add notes like desired size and color in the "Notes for family and friends" section.

That's ok! You can search for any product name to see results and real-time pricing from thousands of retailers and easily add those items directly to your list. There is also the "Add manually" option, which is perfect for experiences, gift cards, or other cash gifts. You are not required to add a link.

Click the options menu on a gift tile and choose "Copy to another list". Then select the list.

Search for friends using our Find Friends feature. Search by name, email, or username to find friends and family members. View a friend's profile to see their public gift lists, bio, and interests. Choose to "Follow" friends to easily find their gift lists and track upcoming birthdays.

There are a few options:

  • Ask the owner to share the list's unique link. You will need the list owner to share the link with if they set their list to be Private.
  • Search for public gift lists by the list owner's name, email, or username on our Find Friends page.

GiftList has two privacy layers. The Public, Friends, or Private setting controls who can see a list on your public profile — Friends means people you follow. Sharing a direct link works regardless of that setting. For a complete lock, add a list password: only people with the password can open the list, no matter the privacy setting. Private lists are never indexed by search engines.

Yes! Paste the link to your Amazon, Target, Walmart, Etsy, or Anthropologie list or registry into the Add Gift field and GiftList will import the items for you — you'll see a preview and choose exactly what to bring over. Items already on your list aren't affected. For anything else (including Pinterest), paste any single product's URL and we'll fetch the details.

Guests buy gifts directly on the retailer’s site, using whatever payment methods the retailer supports. GiftList handles gift reservations and tracking, but all payments occur at the store.

Yes—GiftList supports products from thousands of global retailers. Add items from any country by pasting URLs, and share your universal wishlist with friends and family worldwide.

Go to your profile, select "Edit Profile" and scroll down to select “Delete Account.” All of your lists and personal data will be permanently removed.

Yes! Add your friends on GiftList and their birthdays will automatically be added to your GiftList Occasions calendar. Choose to get reminders in advance so you never forget a birthday or special moment.

Yes. A cash fund lets friends and family pool money toward a goal you set — a honeymoon, a big purchase, or anything you’re saving for. Add a cash fund to any list, set your goal amount, and link a payment account you already use (Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or Cash App). Contributions go directly to you — GiftList never holds your money or takes a cut, so there’s no middleman. We automatically track who chipped in and how close you are to your goal.

Yes — any item on your list can become a group gift. Open the item’s menu and choose Enable group gifting, and gift givers can contribute toward its price until your goal is reached. It works just like a cash fund: link a payment account (Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or Cash App) and contributions go straight to you, with no middleman and no fees from GiftList. Every contributor and your progress toward the goal are tracked automatically.

Yes — free at giftlist.com/exchange. Set up a Secret Santa with a smart name draw that respects exclusions (couples, last year's matches) and stays completely hidden from the organizer — even they can't peek. Each person links their existing GiftList wishlist or fills out a fun Mystery Q&A, and anonymous Santa Mail lets you ask questions without revealing who you are. No participant limit.

They're the same action — reserving a gift labels it as purchased so no one else buys the same thing. By default the list owner won't see it until they choose to reveal their gifts, so there are no spoilers. It works without an account, and your confirmation email includes an unreserve link if you need to undo it.

GiftList never ships anything — every purchase happens on the retailer's own site, made by the gift giver. If you bought the gift, that store handles shipping, tracking, returns, exchanges, and refunds; start with the order confirmation email they sent you. If you're the list owner waiting on a gift, check the Gift tracker tab on your list — that's where the gift giver can leave details like an order or tracking number.

Mark any item as "Most Wanted" from its options menu. Gift givers see the badge on those items and can sort or filter your list to shop your top picks first.

Yes — drag and drop to reorder, add custom tags to sort and filter (sizes, rooms, priorities — anything), and archive or duplicate whole lists. You can also customize each list's cover and banner.

The My Gifts hub collects every gift you've received and every gift you've purchased across all your lists in one place — handy for thank-you notes and tracking what's on the way.

Yes — many products show a live price comparison across retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Target, so you (and your gift givers) can buy from whoever has the best deal.

Optionally! It's off by default to keep the surprise, but you can opt in from your list settings if you'd rather know right away.

Yes — beyond the Public, Friends, and Private profile-visibility settings, you can add a password to any list. Only people with the password can open it, regardless of the privacy setting.
