Save gifts to GiftList on iPhone
Updated
In this guide
You can save a product through GiftList's built-in shopping browser or share its link from Safari to GiftList. Sign in to the GiftList app first and have a list you can add to. Review the product and destination list before saving.
Use the built-in browser
- Open GiftList's Add gift screen, using the app's add button or Add gift on your list.
- Use Search or paste a link, or choose a store under Browse by store.
- In the shopping browser, open the actual product page and select the variant you want.
- Tap Add in the browser's toolbar. Wait for the Add gift form.
- Choose the destination list and check the title, price, image and product link. Add size, color or other instructions in the details field.
- Tap Add gift and confirm that the item appears on your list.
The store's cart button buys from that store; GiftList's Add button saves an idea. You do not need to purchase an item to put it on your wishlist.
Searching sends you to Google. Typing a product name (rather than pasting a link) into Search or paste a link opens a Google search in GiftList's browser. That is expected: open the product's own page from the results, then tap Add. A Google search or results page isn't a product, so tapping Add there saves nothing. In the latest app, a tip says "Open the product's page, then tap Add to save it and its link to your list." Older app versions don't show the tip. To browse GiftList's own product catalog instead, use the search at the top of the app.

Find a product from a photo
If your app shows Search by photo beside the Add gift search field:
- Tap Search by photo, then Take photo or Choose photo.
- Your photo is sent to Google Lens to find matches. Complete Google's verification if it appears.
- Open a product’s store page from the results, then tap Add in GiftList's browser toolbar.
- Check the product details and destination list, then save the gift.
A photo search finds products; it does not save the screenshot itself as a gift. Google results and verification pages cannot be saved. If the photo control is missing in your installed version, paste the retailer's product link instead. This control is available only in the iPhone and Android apps.
Share a link from Safari
- Open the retailer's product page in Safari and tap Safari's Share button.
- Choose GiftList in the share sheet's app row. If it is not visible, open More and look for GiftList among the available apps. The exact arrangement depends on your iOS version.
- In GiftList's Add gift form, select a list and review the extracted details.
- Tap Add gift. Return to your list and check the saved item.
If the share sheet asks you to sign in, open the main GiftList app, sign in and try sharing the product again. A screenshot or copied image is not the same as a product URL.
If details or controls are missing
Some stores do not provide usable automatic product information. You can correct the title, image, price or link in the form, or add the item manually in GiftList. If the retailer opens a shopping app instead of a web page, copy the product's share link and paste it into GiftList.
Update GiftList if the native controls differ from these instructions. As a fallback, open GiftList in your browser, sign in and paste the product link into Add gift. Do not repeatedly save while a previous attempt is still loading; check the list first.
