Sign in and find your existing lists
Updated
In this guide
Use the same account and sign-in method you used when creating your lists. If My Lists is empty, check the account before making a replacement; signing in with another email or provider may open a different GiftList account.
Return to your account
- Open Log in in your normal browser, or open Log in in the GiftList app. The screen may say which method you used last time ("Last time you logged in with…").
- If you originally used Google, choose Continue with Google and select the correct Google account. For Apple, choose Continue with Apple and the same Apple account used before.
- If you originally created a password, enter your email or username and password, then choose Log in. In the app, choose Continue with email first to show those fields.
- Open My Lists. Check Archived if an older list is missing.
For Apple sign-in with Hide My Email, the account may use an Apple relay address. Do not assume signing in with your usual personal email opens the same account.
Password and sign-in errors
For an email/password account, use Forgot password? and follow the reset email. Check spam and that you entered the address used for the account. An account created only with Google or Apple may not have a GiftList password; use its provider button instead of expecting password reset to recover it.
If Google or Apple will not open inside a messaging app, open GiftList in Safari, Chrome or your normal system browser and try the original sign-in method there. If the app reports too many attempts, wait before retrying; repeatedly submitting the same details will not clear the block.
If you sign in successfully but land away from your list, open My Lists directly or reopen the original list/invitation link after sign-in.
Verification or sign-in emails not arriving
Password reset, email verification and other account-security emails are always sent, even if you unsubscribed from other GiftList email. If one doesn't arrive within a few minutes:
- Check your spam or junk folder and, in Gmail, the Promotions and Updates tabs.
- Check that you typed the exact address on the account. A different email, or an Apple Hide My Email relay address, is a different inbox.
- Request a new email rather than using an old one; an earlier link may have expired.
- If you signed up with Google or Apple, there may be no GiftList password to reset. Use Continue with Google or Continue with Apple instead. Once signed in, you can choose Add a password under Notifications & email → Account & security on your profile.
To log out, open the menu and choose Log out.
I still cannot find it
Check whether it was created under another account, shared with you as a collaborator, or archived. A list link can open the shopper view even when you are not signed in as its owner. Group membership also does not automatically give you editing access.
If you are only buying from someone else's shared list, you normally do not need to sign in at all. Use shared-list help. To see your Secret Santa match, sign in and follow the exchange invitation.
Contact support with the list title/link if known, the sign-in method you used, and the visible error. Never send a password, verification code or recovery link.
