Create a list and add or edit gifts
Updated
In this guide
Create a free GiftList account, make a list, then add gifts using product links, product search or a manual entry. GiftList fills in details when available; you can correct them before or after saving.
Create the list
- Sign in and open Create a list, or choose Create a list from the website.
- Enter a List name, choose the List type, and add an Occasion date (optional).
- Under Gift delivery, choose whether gifts ship to your address or follow your own instructions. See delivery instructions; anyone with the list link can read them.
- Open More options to choose Show on my profile and in Groups.
- Choose Create a list. Open the new list to add gifts.
Already have a wishlist or registry somewhere else? On the website's Create a list page, choose Import it instead to bring it in. Whether people can reserve gifts, a stop date and a password are set later in the list's Settings.

Add a gift from a link

- Open your list and choose Add gift. In the box that says Paste a link or search, paste the product link or type what you're looking for. The same launcher offers Add manually, Cash fund, Import a registry and, when available, Gift cards. On the website, Add gift in the top bar opens Add a gift when you are not on a list: pick the list, paste a link from any store and choose Add to list, or More ways to add.
- Paste the actual retailer product-page URL. Avoid a shopping cart, account page, search-result page (including a Google search page, which GiftList refuses) or copied image.
- Review the item name, price, image and link. Automatic extraction depends on what the store makes available.
- Use Gift details for size, color, variant or other instructions. Set quantity and Most wanted if useful.
- Check the selected list and choose Add gift when the review form is shown. Confirm the gift appears on that list. Some link entries add directly and show a fetching state; review the resulting gift before adding it again.
Product search is another option when you know the name but do not have a link. Select a result, check the product details and choose the destination list.
Offer more than one store for the same gift
Open the gift and choose Edit. Fill in Link, then use the + beside it for another store link. You can keep up to five links on one gift and remove an extra with its X control. The first link is the default store button. Open the gift and choose another seller's button: View at [store] in your own list, Buy at [store] in the shared view; expand More stores when shown. These links share the same gift and purchased status; they are not separate requested quantities.
Add manually or correct a gift
Choose Add manually when there is no product link or automatic details do not work. Enter a clear title and any helpful price, image and notes. Experiences and offline gift ideas can be listed without a URL. For money contributions, use a cash fund.
For an existing gift, open Gift options → Edit. Correct the title, price, image, link or notes and choose Save gift. Review the live retailer page before shopping: a saved price is not a promise of the current checkout price or stock.
To delete a gift, open Gift options → Delete and confirm. Deleting can't be undone, and if someone has already reserved or bought the gift, it removes their claim too. To put it on another list without losing claims, move it instead.
If a save takes longer than expected, check the list before adding the same item again. If a particular store's details are wrong, manual editing is the practical fallback; send support the product URL if the problem keeps happening.
The web, iPhone and Android entry points differ. See iPhone saving, Android saving or the desktop extension for shopping while saving.
