Add a Secret Santa wishlist and use Santa Mail
Updated
Inside your exchange, add the wishlist or preference answers you want your giver to use. After names are drawn, Santa Mail can let you ask gift questions when the organizer has enabled it.
Help your giver choose

Open the exchange as your own participant. Choose a wishlist you own or use Mystery Q&A to provide preferences. Before the draw, choose the method you want your giver to use and check the details; linking a wishlist then clears the Mystery Q&A answers. Once names are drawn, you can update items on the currently linked list, but you cannot replace that list. If you chose Mystery Q&A, you can still switch to a wishlist until your Santa logs a gift. Your Santa is told, no longer sees your Q&A answers (including any shipping address), and you cannot switch back.
The standalone gift preference questionnaire is a separate tool. Copying answers there does not automatically fill your exchange's Mystery Q&A.

Ask a question after the draw
Open your match and use Santa Mail where offered. Ask a practical question about preferences or delivery without signing your message if you want to preserve the surprise. Read the thread labels so you know which conversation you are replying to.
If Santa Mail is unavailable, check whether names have been drawn and ask the organizer whether it is enabled. Do not use someone else's invitation or account to reach a conversation.
Keep the surprise in perspective
Messages, distinctive wording, personal links and exchange management can reveal identities or allow people to infer them. GiftList does not guarantee that an organizer can never discover pairings. Avoid including private information that the recipient does not need.
