Question 1

What is Genie: AI-Powered Gift Ideas?

Accepted Answer

Genie is GiftList’s free AI gift idea chat. Describe who you’re shopping for, the occasion and your budget, and Genie suggests gift ideas with products you can buy. You can use it without signing in; signed-in GiftList users get AI search on the Gift Ideas page instead.

Question 2

How does Genie work?

Accepted Answer

Genie uses AI to turn what you tell it about the person, the occasion and your budget into gift ideas, each with matching products and links to buy them from the retailer. Keep chatting to add detail and refine the suggestions. Prices and availability come from the stores and can change, so check them before you buy.

Question 3

Do I need to sign up or create an account to use Genie?

Accepted Answer

No. You can chat with Genie without signing up. You’ll need a free GiftList account to save an idea to a list.

Question 4

Can I integrate Genie with my existing GiftList.com account?

Accepted Answer

Genie itself doesn't require or connect to a GiftList account — it's a standalone AI chat you can use signed out. If you're signed in to GiftList, AI-powered gift search now lives on the Gift Ideas page instead.

Question 5

How do I use Genie to find gift ideas?

Accepted Answer

Using Genie is easy! Tell us about who you are buying for (relationship, age, gender) and then help us find the right gift by telling us the occasion, interests & hobbies, and the amount you are willing to spend. Genie will then generate a list of gift ideas and product suggestions tailored to your input. Try to be as specific as possible. Genie's recommendations will get better and better as you continue the conversation.

Question 6

Can I trust the product recommendations from the GiftList Genie?

Accepted Answer

Genie suggests real products from real retailers, with links to buy, but treat them as starting points. In the U.S., most come from Amazon. Check the price, details and reviews on the store’s site before you buy. GiftList may earn a commission on purchases through these links.

Question 7

Are Genie’s recommendations limited to specific retailers?

Accepted Answer

In the U.S., mostly yes: Genie’s product results come mainly from Amazon, with gift cards from our gift card catalog and other stores when Amazon has no match. Outside the U.S., results depend on what’s available in your country.

Question 8

Why use Genie to find gift ideas?

Accepted Answer

Genie is free, needs no sign-up to chat, and turns a short description into gift ideas with real products you can buy:

Each idea comes with matching products and links to the retailer.
Genie connects with the rest of GiftList, like Gift Ideas search, our gift guides, and saving ideas to a wishlist with a free account.

Question 9

I'm signed in — where did Genie go?

Accepted Answer

We've moved AI-powered gift discovery into search on the Gift Ideas page — just type who you're shopping for and what they're into, right from the search bar at giftlist.com/gift-ideas. The standalone Genie chat is still available if you're not signed in, but signed-in users are taken straight to Gift Ideas now.
