Change email and push notification preferences
Updated
In this guide
Open your profile's Notifications & email section to choose the supported email and push notifications you want, then choose Save preferences. Available channels vary by notification type.
Save your preferences
- Sign in to the account receiving the notifications and open your profile.
- Find Notifications & email.
- Change the available switches beside each notification type.
- Choose Save preferences and wait for the save to finish.
An unavailable channel is not an extra switch you need to enable. For example, the exchange-updates preference controls push notifications; exchange emails such as invitations, match messages and cancellations can still arrive.
Unsubscribe from GiftList emails
To stop a type of email, use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of that email, or turn it off in Notifications & email and choose Save preferences. Password resets, email verification and other account-security messages are always on and can't be switched off. Emails about something you are part of, such as a Secret Santa invitation or a purchase you recorded, can still arrive. To stop all email from GiftList for good, see delete your account.
Check list and device settings too
List-specific purchase email settings and gift reveal settings affect what purchase information you receive. Read Keep gifts a surprise before enabling detailed purchase information.
For push alerts, also check your phone's notification permission for GiftList. Account preferences cannot override an operating-system block. For missing email, check spam and the account email address before repeatedly changing preferences.
Occasion reminders
Under Occasion reminders you can also turn individual birthdays, holidays and dates on or off. Turning a reminder on is a request for that notification, not a guarantee that a device or email provider will display it.
