Is Giftful free?
Yes. Giftful's official website describes the service as free, and its current Google Play listing says it is free with no ads. We did not find a paid subscription tier in the official sources reviewed.
GiftList also lets you create a free gift list. That statement applies to GiftList's list-making action, not to retailer purchases or outside payment-provider costs. Neither product's free access means the gifts themselves are free.
How do sharing and private claims work on Giftful?
Giftful separates personal wishlists from registries and lists made for someone else. On a personal wishlist, the owner cannot see which items friends claimed, which preserves the surprise. Registry owners and people managing a list for someone else can see claimed items.
Account access needs a closer look. Giftful's FAQ says users need an account by default to view and claim wishes. A list owner can turn on Anyone With Link Can View so people can see the list without an account, but the FAQ does not say that this setting also enables account-free claims.
GiftList takes a different approach on ordinary shared lists: a gift-giver with access can reserve an item without creating an account. The reservation helps other gift-givers see what is covered while remaining hidden from the recipient. Access rules still apply to private, password-protected and friends-only lists, and a reservation is not proof that a retailer purchase was completed.
Where does Giftful have the advantage?

Those are meaningful reasons to choose Giftful. The previous version of this article treated discovery and cross-retailer price help as GiftList-only benefits; Giftful's current official listings show that comparison is no longer accurate.

Account-free reservations and quantities
On an accessible GiftList list, friends and family can reserve a gift without creating an account. If you need several of the same item, quantities let different gift-givers reserve the remaining amount from one entry. Reservations help coordinate the group, but they cannot detect an off-platform purchase that was never recorded.
Supported registry imports
GiftList can import supported Amazon, Target, Walmart, Etsy and Anthropologie wishlists or registries. Supported URL types vary, and an import can be partial or fail, so it is important to review the preview and add missing gifts manually. Giftful supports registries, but its official materials do not document importing an existing retailer registry.
Groups for family and friends
GiftList Groups provide a persistent place to invite family and friends and keep up with the shared wishlists they are allowed to show. Groups support up to 50 people. Creating or joining one requires an account, and membership does not reveal every private list or grant editing permission automatically.
Secret Santa and occasion planning
GiftList includes a Secret Santa organizer with a budget, exchange date, name drawing and exclusions when a valid draw is possible. Participants link a wishlist or choose Mystery Q&A, and Santa Mail can support anonymous questions between assigned participants when the organizer enables it. GiftList also supports personal digital cards and Events with invitations, RSVPs and an attached gift list. In the official Giftful sources reviewed, we did not find a comparable name-drawing exchange or event-and-RSVP workflow.
Does Giftful have an AI gift finder?
Yes. Giftful's iOS version history documents Ask AI, an AI-powered search that accepts a description and returns product ideas. Its current listing also surfaces personalized recommendations based on list activity.
GiftList's Genie is a conversational gift finder: it suggests ideas and lets you refine them with follow-up questions. Choose between the two based on the experience you prefer rather than claiming that only one product uses AI or provides personalized discovery. Product prices and availability can change at the retailer in either experience.
What are other apps like Giftful?
