Best Wishlist Apps? 10 Compared (2026)
The ten wishlist apps here are built around different jobs: Amazon Wishlist around its own catalog, Giftster and CheckedTwice around family groups, MyRegistry around registries, Elfster around Secret Santa, and Listful, GoWish, Giftful and Wishupon around cross-store lists with shopping or discovery tools. GiftList combines universal lists, quantities, supported registry imports, family Groups and broader gifting tools in one place.
A wishlist app lets you save the gifts you want, often from different stores, on one list you can share by link. Friends and family open the list, see what you would like and reserve or mark a gift so other givers can see it's taken and avoid buying it twice. When you compare wishlist apps, check whether you can add gifts from any store, whether gift-givers need an account to reserve, whether reservations stay hidden from the list owner, and whether the app also handles registries, family groups or a Secret Santa draw.
We compared ten wishlist apps against those questions: GiftList, Amazon Wishlist, Giftster, MyRegistry, Elfster, Listful, GoWish, Giftful, Wishupon and CheckedTwice. Each is built around a different job, so each section below describes what the app is designed for, what it offers according to its own pages, and its documented limits. Amazon's list workflow centers on its own catalog, so we treat it as the store-specific option rather than a cross-store wishlist. It is included because readers often compare it with a universal list.

How we compared these wishlist apps
GiftList publishes this comparison, so weigh our description of our own app with that in mind. GiftList is listed first because we make it; the order of the apps isn't a ranking. No placement in this update was paid for.
Just want to make a list now? Use GiftList's free wishlist maker: add gifts from any store and share one link.
On September 15, 2026, we reviewed each provider's official website or current app-store listing. On September 30, 2026, we re-checked the competitor descriptions below against those pages and, where we could reach one, its help center or FAQ. We did not test the other apps hands-on, so each competitor section reflects what the provider documents, and a feature can behave differently in practice. We looked at five practical questions:
- Can you add gifts from different stores? A universal list should not lock you into one retailer.
- Is sharing easy for the gift-giver? We looked for clear links, reservations or purchase marking, and surprise protection.
- Can the list handle real occasions? Privacy, quantities, collaboration, registries, family groups and exchanges matter when more people get involved. For family holiday lists in particular, see how Christmas list apps compare.
- Where can you use it? Web, mobile apps and browser-saving tools offer different ways to build a list.
- What are the limits? A useful comparison states each product's limits, not only its features.
Features and prices can change. We left out app-store ratings and user totals because those figures move frequently and do not measure whether a wishlist fits your needs.
GiftList
GiftList is built for people who want one universal list for everyday gifting, registries, family coordination and gift exchanges.
GiftList's wishlist maker lets you create a free gift list, add gifts from different stores and share one link. You can paste a product URL, save while shopping with the browser extension or use the in-app browser on mobile. Product details fill in when available; when they are incomplete, you can enter or correct the gift manually.
On the gift-giver's side, someone with access to a shared list can reserve a gift without creating an account. The reservation is visible to other gift-givers but hidden from the recipient, which helps avoid duplicates while preserving the surprise. The Gift Tracker lets the recipient reveal who gave what when they are ready.
Several newer features make GiftList more useful for registries and families:
- Quantities: Add an item once and let different gift-givers reserve the available quantity.
- Registry import: Import supported Amazon, Target, Walmart, Etsy and Anthropologie wishlists or registries. Some imports can be partial, so review the preview before adding the items.
- Groups: Invite family and friends to a group and keep up with the shared wishlists they are allowed to show. List privacy still applies, and group members use free accounts.
- Secret Santa: Draw names, set a budget and date, use exclusions when the draw allows them, and let participants link a wishlist or choose Mystery Q&A. Santa Mail lets assigned participants send anonymous questions after the draw, unless the organizer turns it off.
- Gift ideas: Genie suggests gift ideas and lets you refine them with follow-up questions. Prices and availability can change at the retailer.
- Cash funds and group gifting: People can record contributions toward a fund or an item using supported external payment methods. There is no GiftList fee (payment-provider fees may apply).
GiftList also supports privacy controls, password protection, collaborators, tags, Most Wanted items, custom covers, digital cards, Events with RSVPs and attached gift lists, and reminders for birthdays and other occasions.
Limits: Some product pages need a manual edit, and some features work differently on web, mobile and the extension. Creating or joining a Group and using participant features in Secret Santa require a free account. Reservations are hidden from you while you're signed in; if you open your own list signed out, you see it as a gift-giver does.
Amazon Wishlist
Amazon Wishlist, which Amazon also calls Lists, is designed around shopping Amazon's own store: you save products from Amazon's catalog, and gift-givers usually buy them through Amazon checkout. On GiftList, one list can hold gifts from Amazon and other stores, and you can import a public or shared Amazon list as a one-time copy (imports can be partial).
What it offers:
- Adding: "Add to List" on any Amazon product page, or by asking an Alexa device when that setting is on.
- Sharing: Share a view-only link, or invite people by link, email or text to view and edit the list (add or remove items, change quantities and priorities, post comments). Gift-givers can also look up a list by the owner's name under "Find a List or Registry."
- Surprise settings: "Don't spoil my surprises" is on by default and keeps gift purchases hidden from you for several weeks. If you try to buy an item someone already gifted you, Amazon warns you. On GiftList, reservations stay hidden from you while you're signed in until you reveal them; signed out, your own list looks the same as it does to gift-givers.
- Shipping address: A list can carry a default shipping address. Amazon shows gift purchasers only the name, city and state, not the street address.
- Price alerts: In the Amazon app, you can get push alerts when a saved item drops in price or gets a coupon or deal.
Worth knowing: Amazon's documented list workflow centers on products in Amazon's catalog rather than arbitrary retailer URLs, so it is not a cross-store wishlist.
Giftster
Giftster describes itself as a way to make and share wish lists in a private family group that you set up once and use year after year.
What it offers:
- Lists: Items from any store, with a "fetch" option that fills in details from a web link. The list maker can't see the purchase status of items on their own lists. On GiftList, product details also fill in from a pasted link when available, and you can edit them or add a gift manually.
- Family groups: Members join a private group from the app or giftster.com and are invited by text or email. On GiftList, you can keep family wishlists together in a Group, then start a separate Secret Santa when it is time to draw names. Creating or joining a Group requires a free account.
- Secret suggestions: Group members can add ideas to someone else's list that everyone except the list maker can see. GiftList has no equivalent for adding hidden ideas to someone else's list.
- Kids and pets: Child and pet accounts, with co-management so other adults can help keep a child's list up to date. GiftList has no accounts you manage for children or pets.
- Secret Santa: Groups with three or more members can add a draw. Picks stay secret from everyone, including the organizer; exclusions and reusing a previous draw are available on giftster.com. A GiftList Secret Santa runs separately from Groups, needs at least three eligible participants and holds up to 100 people. The organizer can't see the full draw there either, and exclusions are supported.
- Visibility and history: Lists can be private, shared with groups or public (searchable or link-only), and can be shared as a QR code. Giftster also keeps a record of gifts you have received or purchased. GiftList's list setting controls who finds a list on your profile; anyone with the link can still open it unless you add a password. GiftList offers QR codes for Events, not gift lists, and My Gifts → Received shows gifts reserved or contributed through GiftList after you reveal a list.
Worth knowing: Giftster is organized around family groups. Each member logs in to update their own list, view the group's lists and claim gifts.
MyRegistry
MyRegistry describes itself as a universal registry ("All Stores, One Registry") for weddings, babies, birthdays, graduations, housewarmings and nonprofit giving lists.
What it offers:
- Adding: Gifts from any store, through a browser extension and iOS and Android apps.
- Registry sync: Combine registries from several partner stores into one list while keeping each retailer's perks. GiftList doesn't sync store registries; it can import some store wishlists and registries as a one-time copy, and imports can be partial.
- Funds: Cash gift funds and charitable donations. GiftList offers free group gifting and cash funds: people link their own payment methods, GiftList charges no platform fee and doesn't hold the money, and payment-provider fees may apply.
- Registry tools: Customize what visitors see and track thank-you notes in the app. On GiftList, each thank-you card opens pre-filled with the gift-giver's first name and the gift they gave, and you review it and choose delivery before anything is sent.
- Surprise setting: A "Hide what's been purchased" option hides purchased items from you while guests still see them as purchased. GiftList hides reservations from the signed-in owner by default, and the Gift Tracker reveals who gave what when the owner is ready.
- Gift exchange: A holiday gift exchange generator with card invitations by email, text or WhatsApp and a name draw.
Worth knowing:
- MyRegistry doesn't offer a separate partner login. Co-registrants share one login, and MyRegistry suggests one person manage the registry on a computer while the other uses the app. On GiftList, you can invite a partner by email as a collaborator on the list, and reservations stay hidden from collaborators as well as the owner.
- Creating a registry is free, but cash funds can involve fees. MyRegistry's terms say new users' cash funds run through GoFundMe, which sets its own fees; guest handling fees apply to legacy PayPal funds.
Elfster
Elfster describes itself as a free platform for organizing Secret Santa and other group gift exchanges, with wishlists participants can shop from. It says it was founded in 2000.
What it offers:
- Secret Santa generator: Exclusions to keep couples apart, keep kids from being paired with adults, and skip last year's matches. Its App Store listing describes groups of 3 to 300+. GiftList's Secret Santa also supports exclusions and holds up to 100 people per exchange.
- Other exchange formats: A gift exchange generator for formats such as White Elephant and Yankee Swap, plus free printables. GiftList doesn't run White Elephant as an organizer mode; it has separate educational tools for other exchange formats.
- Wishlists: Items from any online store (paste a link and Elfster fetches the details), custom ideas, experiences and gift cards. Gift-givers mark items purchased to help avoid duplicates.
- Invitations: By text, email or social media, across iPhone, Android and desktop.
- Discovery: Trending gifts, curated gift guides, price tracking and deal alerts, and suggestions based on age, interests and budget. On GiftList, you can browse gift ideas and guides by recipient or occasion.
- Family Manager: Linked accounts let one person manage accounts for children, parents, spouses or pets without logging in and out. GiftList has no managed accounts like Family Manager.
Worth knowing: Elfster's experience is built around the gift exchange. The draw is hidden by default, but organizers and assistants can view who drew whom. In a GiftList Secret Santa exchange, each giver sees only their own recipient and the organizer can't view the full draw; GiftList's separate free name-draw generator does show the organizer every pairing.
Listful
Listful describes itself as one place to keep everything you want from any store, in lists you can style and share with one link.
What it offers:
- Adding: Paste a link, browse stores in the app, use the Chrome extension, or add an item manually when there's no link.
- Sharing: Share by link or text, or directly to TikTok and Instagram. The link opens in any browser, with no app or account needed to view, and friends can reserve without downloading the app.
- Reservations: You can get a notification when someone reserves a wish. Purchased wishes stay hidden from you unless you turn on "Reveal Purchased Wishes." GiftList's purchase emails to the list owner are opt-in and are sent only after the owner reveals gifts.
- Prices: Price tracking, price-drop alerts and price comparison on the list. GiftList doesn't offer price tracking or price-drop alerts.
- Organizing: Collaborators, personalized gift suggestions, collages, sorting by color, folders of wishlists, and a private account or hidden individual lists. GiftList lists also support tags, Most Wanted items and custom covers.
Worth knowing: Listful is free to use. Listful Pro is an optional paid upgrade that adds features such as highlighting a favorite wish and seeing who is reserving gifts. GiftList's Gift Tracker shows who gave what once you choose to reveal.
GoWish
GoWish, made by the Danish company Ønskeskyen ApS, describes itself as a digital wishlist for discovering, saving and sharing the things you want.
What it offers:
- Adding: Save from any online store through the iOS share menu, or paste a link and let the app create the wish.
- Sharing: Share by SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger or email, and follow friends' wishlists. On GiftList, you can also follow friends and keep track of birthdays and other occasions.
- Reservations: Other gift-givers can see what's reserved; the list owner can't.
- Shared and family lists: Up to 10 collaborators on a wishlist (for example, a wedding wishlist with a partner), plus sub-accounts and lists made on behalf of children or others. GiftList lists can have collaborators too.
- Gift Generator: Suggestions by age and gender, based on what other users wish for, in the United States, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
- Devices: Web, tablet and mobile.
Worth knowing: Gift-givers must be logged in to reserve a wish from a wishlist. On GiftList, a gift-giver can reserve on the web from a list they can open, without logging in or creating an account.
Giftful
Giftful describes itself as a universal wishlist and shopping companion for saving products from any store, discovering ideas and sharing lists.
What it offers:
- Adding: Save from any online retailer through the website, the iOS and Android apps, and Chrome and Safari extensions.
- Discovery: Trending products, curated collections, creator picks, personalized recommendations, and Ask AI, an AI-powered search where you describe what you're looking for. On GiftList, Genie suggests gift ideas from a chat; guests can chat, and saving an idea to a list requires a free account.
- Prices: Price comparison across retailers and price-change tracking.
- Lists: Unlimited wishlists, including wedding and baby registries. GiftList also has wedding and baby registries, with quantities for items you need more than one of.
- Claiming: Friends and family can claim gifts privately, without the recipient knowing, on lists made for yourself.
Worth knowing: By default, people need a Giftful account to view a list. The owner can let anyone with the link view it and can turn on "claim as guest." Only one person can claim a wish. On GiftList, reserving without an account is on by default for anyone who can open the list, and several gift-givers can reserve parts of one item's quantity.
Wishupon
Wishupon describes itself as a universal shopping wishlist.
What it offers:
- Adding: Save products from any online store to one wishlist.
- Collections: Organize saved items by theme, style or shopping goal.
- Sharing: Share a list on Messenger and WhatsApp.
- Reservations: Friends can reserve gifts, and a Secret Mode is meant to keep gifts a surprise until they arrive.
- Price alerts: Price-drop notifications. GiftList doesn't send price-drop alerts.
Worth knowing: Some features are part of Wishupon Plus, a paid subscription. GiftList is free; retailer purchases and payment-provider fees are separate.
CheckedTwice
CheckedTwice describes itself as "the gift registry for families."
What it offers:
- Shared family lists: Sign up with your name and email, invite friends and family by email, keep your own list and see everyone else's. On GiftList, you invite family and friends to a Group and keep up with the wishlists each person chooses to share; Group members use free accounts.
- Wishes from anywhere: Add items from around the web, and offline wishes too. GiftList lists also take gifts from any site, and you can add an item manually when there's no product page.
- Claiming: Claimed gifts are marked for everyone except the recipient.
- Surprise ideas: Family members can add ideas and surprise gifts to someone's list that only the others see.
- Children and occasions: Child accounts, and it lists uses such as Christmas, birthdays, office holiday registries, children's parties, graduations and back-to-school lists. GiftList has no hidden suggestions or child accounts.
Worth knowing: Family members are invited by email and join the shared system to see one another's lists.
Questions to ask before you pick a wishlist app
Whichever apps you look at, these questions sort out most of the differences:
- Will the gifts come from more than one store? GiftList lets you add gifts from different stores; product details fill in when available, and you can add or correct a gift manually.
- Do gift-givers need an account? On an accessible GiftList list, a gift-giver can reserve a gift without creating one.
- Is it for a registry? GiftList supports quantities and imports supported Amazon, Target, Walmart, Etsy and Anthropologie wishlists or registries; imports can be partial.
- Does your family want a shared space? GiftList Groups keep the wishlists each person is allowed to show in one place. Group members use free accounts, and list privacy still applies.
- Is there a gift exchange? GiftList's Secret Santa draws names, and participants link a wishlist or choose Mystery Q&A.
For most people who shop at more than one store, a universal wishlist is the flexible starting point.
